Incognito: When 'Everything in the Air' Wasn't Enough… My Experience on a TV Guessing Show

Every now and then, an opportunity comes along that is so unusual you simply can't say no. And that's exactly how I ended up taking part in Incognito, an entertainment show on TV Prima. If you know the format, you'll be aware it's a show where celebrities try to guess the professions of 'mystery guests.' And this time, they had to guess mine.

The panel – Jakub Prachař, Ondřej Gregor Brzobohatý, Petra Nesvačilová and Richard Genzer – received only a single clue at the start: 'Everything in the air.' A fairly poetic and very broad hint which, as it turned out, could lead in all sorts of directions.

And they really tried! Questions came flying from all sides. Some guesses were surprisingly close, others completely off the mark (which was exactly what made the whole situation so entertaining). Although I did my best to answer honestly without giving too much away, they ultimately failed to uncover my real profession.

So what do I actually do? I am a musician and a Pan flute player – a unique, beautiful instrument with an unmistakable sound that transports you in your mind to the mountains, to nature, or… to a solitary shepherd. The Lonely Shepherd, probably the most famous piece ever written for this instrument, was the very piece I had the chance to perform live in the studio at the end of the show. And I must say, playing something so emotional in front of cameras and a live audience – after all the suspense and guessing – was an experience I will never forget.

As always, the show was hosted by the brilliant Libor Bouček, who kept the atmosphere light and funny, yet respectful toward all the participants. The entire crew also created such a warm environment that, despite it being a TV recording, I felt more like I was at a friendly gathering than in a 'serious' performance.

Even though the panel didn't manage to guess my profession, I walked away with plenty of wonderful moments, genuine laughter, and the opportunity to showcase the Pan flute to a wider audience. And that's what it's all about – bringing people something beautiful, even if a little unconventional. Whether they guess correctly or not.
